Karate Club
               FINAL SESSION of the 2020' SCHOOL YEAR 
  IS POSTPONED until cleared from CORVID-19 PANDEMIC

This K-6th grade (5-12yrs.) after school program provides a great opportunity for fun, exercise and discipline. Instructors from the Assembly of the Martial Arts Academy will teach students at the elementary schools throughout the school year. (SEPT, NOV, JAN & APR/MAY) Each session consist of SIX classes (*unless noted otherwise*) that meet once a week and lasts for 45 minutes. Students are escorted by the Instructor to the gymnasium for the class which begins immediately after school dismissal. PLEASE NOTE: ENROLLMENT is limited to 36 students- first come basis! To ensure your child's participation in the karate club **REGISTRATION closes 2 business days before ** the start of the karate club session at each school. An additional $25 late fee per child will apply the day after the registration deadline until 3pm at the Painter Park Office 190 Kelsey Ave. ABSOLUTELY NO DAY OF REGISTRATION! NO KARATE CLUB REGISTRATION will be accepted by office staff at ANY SCHOOL as this IS NOT A WHBOED PROGRAM! Thank you for your cooperation.

First time students who enroll in the program receive a karate club t-shirt & white belt. Children are to wear shirt and belt to the club each week. Students have the opportunity to earn higher level belts. (*an additional belt fee is payable directly to the instructor of the class) IF child grows out of the karate club t-shirt, please discuss replacement with your instructor.(*an additional fee is payable directly to the instructor.) 

**PARENT/GUARDIAN NOTE:  We ask for your cooperation with parent viewing of your child's karate class. We find that children initially become distracted when parents are present. Generally, instructors' will allot 10 mins. for parent viewing at the END of the class - please discuss this with your child's instructor at the karate club dismissal time. PLEASE BE PROMPT when PICKING-UP your child from each schools' gymnasium at the end of the 45 minute class as instructors' have other teaching commitments immediately after your child's session.

West Haven children in 5th, 6th, parochial, out of district, or home-schooled are welcomed to join. However, child MUST BE TRANSPORTED to the school of choice and meet in the main office 15mins. prior to the start of the karate club. 

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • This program is offered ONLY to West Haven children ages 5-12 years. Enrollment is LIMITED to the first 36 registered students. Your child IS NOT GUARANTEED a spot in another session as EACH SESSION'S registration is on a first come basis.

  • Please be prompt when picking up your child(ren) from the GYM at the end of the 45 minute class; instructors have other class commitments at other locations immediately following.
  • FEE: $55 per session per student UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. A $5 discount applies ONLY to the second or more child in the family.
  • A session consist of 6 classes unless noted.
  • Club is held in the gymnasium unless noted otherwise at the following schools beginning at the dismissal bell: Forest-Tuesday, Mackrille-Monday, Pagels-Friday, Savin Rock-Monday , Seth Haley-Friday, Washington-Thursday
  • 4 sessions offered throughout the school year. (Sept., Nov., Jan. & Apr.)
  • West Haven 5th, 6th graders, out of district school, parochial/charter students or home schooled are encouraged to attend. However, child MUST BE TRANSPORTED to the school of choice main office 15mins. prior to the start of the karate club.
